Alejandro Gomez is still a free agent despite a few links and was complimentary of Atalanta in an interview, as he’s no longer holding a grudge following his tumultuous exit. Monza director Adriano Galliano recently stated that they won’t put him under contract after some chatter.

El Papu spoke with L’Eco di Bergamo.

“We grew as a team during my time there. Every moment with them was special, even though I have the regret of not being able to win a trophy. La Dea evolved and seems to have returned to their offensive roots.”

Gomez is currently spending time in Sevilla despite getting released earlier this summer.

“I’m enjoying the city while waiting for the right opportunity. If it doesn’t happen, I might consider retirement. I’ve given everything to football, and I don’t want a bitter end.”

The attacker is plotting to stay put in Europe once it’s all said and done.

“Even though I will always carry Argentina in my heart, this is where I want to live. One thing is for certain. I want to go back to Bergamo to experience the affection of the fans again.”

Gomez played for Atalanta from 2014 to 2021, amassing 252 appearances and 59 goals before a falling out with Gian Piero Gasperini led to his exit in January. The two patched things up afterward. He stayed at Sevilla for two seasons and a half.
