MLB best bets, strikeout props for Wednesday 8/23: This fade has it made in the shade

A 1-2 mark in strikeout props Tuesday dropped our record to 3-2 on the week. We're still on pace for a second straight profitable week, so let's bounce back with my three favorite K props for Wednesday's MLB slate. 

Andrew Abbott over 5.5 Ks (-116 FanDuel)

Andrew Abbott has been a bright spot on the Cincinnati Reds this season with his 8-3 record and 2.99 ERA. The 24-year-old has gone over 5.5 Ks in eight of his 14 starts this year, and he has a great chance to clear this number against a struggling Los Angeles Angels lineup. The Angels are batting just .194 as a team over the last 15 days, and they have a 26.7 percent strikeout percentage against lefties this year. This has all the makings of another strong start for Abbott.

Luis Severino under 4.5 Ks (+105 DraftKings)

Luis Severino has been golden fade material of late. The New York Yankees right-hander has given up 39 earned runs over his last eight appearances, and he's gone beyond the fourth inning only twice in that span. Now he has to face a Washington Nationals lineup that's recorded the fewest strikeouts per game (6.5) in MLB over the last two weeks. Even if Severino has a decent outing, he'll be hard-pressed to clear this strikeout total.

Chris Sale under 5.5 Ks (-106 FD)

In two starts since coming off the 60-day injured list, Chris Sale was pulled after 58 and 65 pitches. It's clear the veteran lefty still isn't at full strength, and he's staring down a tough matchup Wednesday night. The Houston Astros have the third-highest OPS against left-handers this season, and their 20.3 percent strikeout percentage against lefties is the lowest in MLB. Take the under.
